Why Austin Homeowners Choose CertainTeed Roofing
We provide independent Certainteed service in Austin, including roofing repair and replacement from Tarrytown to Steiner Ranch, and our crews work on these roofs every week. What separates us from other Austin roofers is that we know CertainTeed products at the failure level: how Landmark shingles react to hail, why Flintlastic SA wrinkles when installers skip primer, and when a repair makes more sense than a replacement. We’re not authorized by CertainTeed, and we won’t pretend to be. We’re an independent CertainTeed service provider with hands-on experience across the product line, and we stand behind every repair with our 365-Day Done Right Promise. Call (254) 587-6371 for a written estimate before any work starts.
Why Trust Crestview Roofing Co Austin for Your CertainTeed Roofing?
Dylan Pace grew up in Los Angeles and learned roofing at LA Trade-Technical College before spending nearly two decades on flat commercial decks and steep residential pitches. When he moved his work to Austin, he brought a habit with him: the scope, the timeline, and the price go in writing before a single nail goes in. That’s the standard every Crestview technician follows, and it matters when you’re dealing with a brand as specific as CertainTeed.
Our crews know the product line well enough to spot a bad original install from the ground. We’ve pulled back Landmark shingles and found missing SwiftStart starter strip along rakes. We’ve seen Flintlastic SA bridging at seams because someone skipped the primer. We know what CertainTeed’s warranty language actually covers, what it excludes, and when a claim is worth pursuing. If it’s not in writing, it’s just a conversation, and that’s not how we work. When you book with us, you get a background-checked, uniformed technician with a live trackable arrival time, before-and-after photo documentation, and a digital invoice sent by text. That’s the Relay Standard, and it applies to every CertainTeed job we take on in Austin.
Styles & brands we work with

Common CertainTeed Roofing Problems We Fix in Austin
- Wind-lifted shingles on Landmark Series roofs. Austin’s spring storm fronts hit roof edges hard. Landmark shingles installed with older nailing patterns (high nails or too few nails) lift along rakes and eaves, then the next storm rips them off. We see this most in neighborhoods like Milwood where homes were built fast in the 1990s. Fixing it properly means re-securing the shingle and adding SwiftStart where it was skipped.
- Blistering and granule loss on south-facing slopes. Austin sun is brutal. Weeks of 100°F heat plus intense UV breaks down the asphalt in Landmark shingles, causing blisters that pop and release granules. Once the fiberglass mat shows through, you’re past repair. Our 15-year rule is simple: scattered shingle loss gets patched; granule loss over 25% of the roof means replacement.
- Flashing separation at valleys and sidewalls. CertainTeed’s SwiftStart starter strip isn’t just a nice-to-have. When installers leave it off, water wicks under the shingles at valley transitions and sidewalls. We find this constantly on Austin homes where the original builder cut corners. The repair involves lifting shingles, installing proper starter, and re-sealing with CertainTeed-matched flashing.
- Wrinkling and bridging on Flintlastic SA low-slope roofs. Flintlastic SA is self-adhered modified bitumen, and it’s a good product when installed right. The problem: installers skip the primer on plywood decking, so the membrane doesn’t bond fully. Austin’s heat then causes the material to expand and bridge at seams, creating ridges that eventually crack. We peel back the failed sections, prime properly, and re-adhere or patch.
- Center-line cracking on Grand Manor luxury shingles. Grand Manor is CertainTeed’s premium architectural line with a thick, dimensional profile. When the shingle is installed on an uneven deck or over old shingles without a flat base, the material flexes and cracks along the center line. That’s rarely a manufacturing defect. It’s almost always an installation issue, and it shows up more often on Austin’s older homes where decking isn’t level.
CertainTeed Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach
We prefer CertainTeed’s own accessory components: SwiftStart starter strip, DiamondDeck underlayment, and CertainTeed-matched ridge caps. These fit correctly, match the warranty requirements, and perform the way the manufacturer intended. We stock common CertainTeed accessories locally so a shingle replacement or flashing repair in Austin doesn’t wait on a distributor order.
When a homeowner wants budget relief, we’ll use Owens Corning ProEdge or GAF WeatherWatch equivalents. They work fine as substitutes, but we’ll tell you on the front end what you’re giving up in terms of warranty matching and exact color matching. As for repair versus replace, we’re blunt. A 15-year-old Landmark roof with a few missing shingles gets our Roof Repair services. Once granule loss exposes fiberglass mat over a quarter of the roof, we recommend full replacement and we’ll show you photos so you can see exactly why. Call (254) 587-6371 and we’ll give you a written price either way.
Our CertainTeed Service Process – Step by Step
- 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the CertainTeed roof surface, underlayment, flashing, and decking. We document everything with photos and show you what we found. No mystery, no “trust me.”
- 2
Written estimate. You get a line-item price before any work starts. The number on the page is the number on the invoice. That includes the parts, the labor, and any decking replacement needed.
- 3
Repair or install. We use CertainTeed-matched materials where it matters and proper OEM-compatible parts where it counts. Every shingle, every piece of flashing, every run of starter strip is installed to the manufacturer’s spec.
- 4
Testing. We water-test repairs where possible and check wind resistance on new shingle work. We document the finished job with photos.
- 5
Warranty in writing. Every CertainTeed repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a covered repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No negotiation, no runaround.

AfterCertainTeed Products We Service & Install in Austin
We work on the full CertainTeed residential lineup across Austin, Georgetown Certainteed service, and Central Texas: Landmark Series asphalt shingles (including Landmark and Landmark Pro), Grand Manor luxury shingles, and Flintlastic SA self-adhered low-slope roofing. We also replace CertainTeed underlayment systems including DiamondDeck and Integrity, plus SwiftStart starter and CertainTeed ridge caps. Our local stock includes common Landmark colors and accessory components, which keeps same-week service possible for most Austin neighborhoods without waiting on special orders.
We Also Service These Brands
CertainTeed makes a great product, but it’s not the only roof on Austin homes. Our crews are equally experienced with GAF and Owens Corning systems, and we carry parts for those brands too. If your roof is a mix of materials or you’re deciding between brands for a replacement, we’ll give you straight advice without brand bias.
FAQs – CertainTeed Roofing Service in Austin
Those black streaks are almost always algae growth, not a manufacturing defect. Austin’s humidity and the shade from live oaks in neighborhoods like Tarrytown create ideal conditions for the blue-green algae that feed on limestone dust in the shingle granules. It spreads across the roof and looks terrible, but it doesn’t usually shorten the shingle’s life. A copper or zinc strip near the ridge stops regrowth, and a soft wash removes the existing staining. We can do both for you. Call (254) 587-6371 for a quote.
Rarely. Center-line cracks on Grand Manor shingles are nearly always an installation issue. The Grand Manor profile is thick and dimensional, and when it’s laid over uneven decking or old, lumpy shingles, the material flexes along its weakest point and cracks. CertainTeed’s warranty covers manufacturing defects, not installation errors, so the fix is usually out of pocket. We strip the affected area, level the deck, and re-install with proper underlayment. Call us and we’ll inspect before you file a warranty claim.
You can, but we generally advise against it in Austin. A second layer of shingles traps heat against the decking, which shortens the life of the new Landmark shingles and hides deck rot until it’s structural. CertainTeed’s warranty also assumes a clean, flat substrate, and covering old Duration shingles voids much of that protection. The better play is a full tear-off so we can inspect and replace damaged decking before the new Landmark goes down. Call (254) 587-6371 and we’ll show you the difference in writing.
Flintlastic SA carries a 20-year material warranty when installed to spec, but Austin’s sun and heat realistically give you 12 to 18 years of service before the membrane starts to show its age. The failure point is almost always installation: skipped primer, poorly sealed seams, or inadequate lap coverage. We laid Flintlastic on a low-slope addition in Round Rock five years ago and it still looks new, because the primer went down first and every seam was rolled. If your Flintlastic is under ten years old and failing, call us. It may be an installation problem worth investigating.
Valley leaks on CertainTeed roofs usually come from one of two places: missing SwiftStart starter strip at the valley transition, or flashing that’s separated from the decking due to Austin’s heat cycles. Water follows the path of least resistance, and a two-inch gap in starter or flashing sends it straight into your ceiling. We find this on houses where the original installer treated the valley as an afterthought. The fix is straightforward: lift the shingles, install proper starter and valley flashing, and re-seal. Call (254) 587-6371 and we’ll give you a written price before we touch anything.
